The Flaming Lips, the Oklahoma City, OK-based weirdo rock band, spent nearly two decades together before they really broke through to the mainstream. They formed in 1983, signed to Warner Bros. in 1991, but it was the release of 1999's The Soft Bulletin that made them a household name. And so at the dawn of the 21st century, The Flaming Lips set out to take on the world. They were touring with Sonic Youth, Beck, and Morrissey; collaborating with The Chemical Brothers; releasing new EPs while gearing up to release At War With The Mystics; and much more. They are, of course, still active to this day, running on crowds in those big plastic balls. This particular shirt from their lives shows in 2003 features art from Peter Bagge, the famed comic artist known for his work with Hate who also played in the band The Action Suits. This original Flaming Lips shirt from 2003 is nicely faded and worn.
