Mike McGill is a professional skateboarder. He was noticed by Alan "Ollie" Gelfand, inventor of the skateboard trick the ollie, at an early age skating in Florida and began to ride for the iconic Powell Peralta skate team shortly after. McGill was a member of the Bones Brigade alongside Tony Hawk, Rodney Mullen, Steve Caballero, Tommy Guerrero, and Lance Mountain. They were the decade's most elite crew of skaters. McGill invented the McTwist, a 540 degree spin in which the rider goes upside down to complete the maneuver, in 1984 which changed skateboarding forever. The same year McGill mastered the McTwist, Powell introduced his most iconic board: the Skull And Snake, featuring an illustration from Vernon Courtlandt Johnson. The graphic is instantly recognizable and the shape was perfect, a long beef tail with a short nose and some wheel wells to prevent wheel bite. McGill went on to continue to skate and later in 1987 open his own skate shop, McGill's Skateshop in Encinitas, CA, which he still operates it to this day. This original, new old stock Mike McGill Skull And Snake deck is in excellent condition. There are some signs of aging, the paint has worn off and smudged in two small areas on the tail on the underside and two spots on the topside, and storage, some small nicks here and there, but overall this thing is in beautiful. It would look nice on your wall but it would also look good set up with a pair of Trackers and some rails airing out of your backyard halfpipe.
