Vintage Butthole Surfers "NA Tour" '91 T-Shirt

The Butthole Surfers had been a band for a decade by the time 1991 rolled around. They came up in Texas and toured relentlessly, scaring and confusing audiences across the country. But in that same time, they also proved to be one of the most popular groups in the underground, singing with Touch And Go and eventually Rough Trade. After ten years of making a, sometimes nonsensical, name for themselves, they released Pioughd, their fifth album on Rough Trade. To support the record's release, they went out on a lengthy coast to coast jaunt across North America. Shortly after the album came out, Rough Trade filed for bankruptcy and they were eventually signed to Capitol Records, the major label responsible for releasing The Beatles in the States. Capitol reissued the record and their popularity and notoriety rose throughout the decade. They are still performing now, but those early days are some of their most important, where the shows were unpredictable and the audiences uncertain. This original Butthole Surfers shirt, with light wear and fading, is from their 1991 North American tour in support of Pioughd
