The University Of Pennsylvania was founded in 1740. The Ivy League school was founded by Benjamin Franklin and has obviously changed a lot since its inception, although many of the larger institutional changes that higher education has gone under originate with U Penn, as they are considered to be the first university and also tried to implement the first liberal arts curriculum.
