Titanic is a 1997 film written and directed by James Cameron. It was massive by every standard. It was the most expensive movie ever made at that point, it was over three hours long, and they actually filmed the wreckage of the Titanic. The studio's gamble paid off, as the movie success was just as massive. It made over $2 billion at the box office worldwide, tied the record for most Oscar nominations with 14 (and won 11 of them, including Best Picture), and launched Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in super stardom.
