Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace opened in 1999, 16 years after the last Star Wars film debuted. The movie, which was written and directed by George Lucas, was a prequel to the original trilogy, an origin story to some of the biggest characters in all of cinema like Jake Lloyd playing Anakin Skywalker (who would become Darth Vader) as well as some.. uh.. interesting new ones like Jar Jar Binks. It also starred Natalie Portman as Queen Amidala, Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon Jinn. It was a massive box office success, bringing in over $1 billion. Its critical reception was a little more mixed, but at the very least it restarted the franchise which is still in existence to this day. This original Star Wars shirt, lightly worn in great condition, is a vintage promotional tee for 1999's Episode I.
