Spawn is a comic book franchise created by Todd McFarlane in 1992. The titular character was originally a mercenary named Al Simmons who died and went to hell but was granted new life and decided to use powers bestowed on him by Malebolgia to do some good finally. The book was a huge hit, an early success for Image Comics, which McFarlane also co-owned. Spawn's success only continued as the franchise grew to include a hit movie, a cartoon, and, of course, cool merchandise. This original Spawn shirt, nicely faded and worn, is from 1993, only a year after the comic was initially released.
