Side By Side was a short-lived straight edge hardcore band from New York, NY. The band, who only had a few songs spread out amongst a demo, two compilation appearances, and a 7" on Revelation Records, featured some of the most important figures in the NYHC scene: Drummer Sammy Siegler would go on to play in Youth Of Today and later would find more mainstream success with bands like Rival Schools, Glassjaw, and Limp Bizkit; guitarist Al Brown played in Gorilla Biscuits and Project X and ran the seminal hardcore fanzine Schism before moving on to a successful career in the fine arts; bassist Brian "Billy" Clark who did the art for the Gorilla Biscuits 7" and is now a professional graphic designer; and guitarist Gavin Van Vlack would go on to form bands like Absolution and Burn which changed the style of NYHC; and singer Jules Massey later fronted Alone In A Crowd before disappearing into obscurity as a maritime lawyer in Florida. Their songs could be called typical for the era — moshable and hard tunes about friendship and straight edge — but they were anything but. Their energy and performances cemented their place in the top tier of hardcore from the era. This vintage Side By Side shirt is nicely worn and faded. Fits like an XL but please refer to our measurements for exact sizing.
