Puerto Rico is an island in the Carribean. While it's a part of the United States, it's technically an unincorporated territory so they have some autonomy. The island was originally home to the Taino people but after European colonization starting in the late 15th century as well as being a stop for slave ships from Africa, the identity changed. But what happened was an entirely new culture was formed from the intersection of all three. The island is also home to beautiful landscapes and beaches and over 3 million citizens.
