By the time Metallica released the Black Album in 1991, they were the metal band. They essentially changed the genre, taking it from a sound that was played in clubs to angry young fans to one that was played in arenas to everyone. The last single from the record was "Sad But True," itself a huge hit of a song still to this day. The band had also already been working with famed artist Pushead for some time by the early 1990s. The midwest-born graphic designer was known for his detailed, diabolical drawings.
