Joy Division were a band from England founded in 1976. The group, which featured Ian Curtis on vocals, Bernand Sumner on guitar, and Peter Hook on bass, were based around the Manchester area and were separately inspired to form after seeing the Sex Pistols play. They signed to Factory Records and released their debut, Unknown Pleasures, in 1979. Curtis's depression proved to be too much even despite their growing success. He committed suicide in May 1980 right before they were supposed to leave for tour. They posthumously released their sophomore album, Closer, two months later. Sumner and Hook went on to form New Order. This vintage Joy Division shirt from 1993 is worn in with fading, bleach marks, and holes.
