Eric Clapton is a British guitarist. He first made waves with The Yardbirds, Cream, and Blind Faith. Clapton released his debut self-titled solo record in 1970 through Atco and Polydor. In 1974, Clapton released its followup, 461 Ocean Boulevard. The record was his first after quitting heroin and was a big hit. It featured a cover of Bob Marley's "I Shot The Sheriff" and went to #1 in the US. It has sold over 2 million copies worldwide since its release. Clapton has continued to play primarily known as solo artist, mostly playing his iconic Fender Strat.
