Dinosaur Jr. formed in 1984. The band, known for their loud distorted guitar and heavy rhythm section, was created after the breakup of the hardcore band Deep Wound. Dinosaur took the same energy but started at a completely different point. They were influenced by melodic rock acts like Neil Young and The Replacements, they just took those ideas and threw a fuzz pedal on it. The band became extremely popular in the underground releasing classic and era-defining records on SST. However, as they were blowing up, the band was not getting along and founding members Lou Barlow and Murph left, leaving J Mascis to do the band by himself. J continued on for a few years before ultimately putting the Dinosaur name down in 1999. After several years of inactivity, the original Dinosaur Jr lineup, with Lou and Murph back behind J, got back together in 2005 and have remained active ever since, consistently writing and touring into the modern day. This original Dinosaur Jr. tour shirt, with fading and wear in great condition, is from the band's first reunion tour in 2005.
