Daniel Johnston released How, How Are You: The Unfinished Album in 1983 himself. The album was his sixth, released in the tail end of a very prolific period for Johnston when he was home-recording and self-releasing multiple albums multiple times a year. Hi, How Are You proved to be one of his most significant works. Kurt Cobain notably wore a shirt featuring the album art after their mainstream breakthrough, but even before that it was re-released on cassette by Stress Records in 1986 and on vinyl by Homestead Records two years after that, making it a widely distributed and well-regarded underground record. The album and its art became legendary, not only for its great and unique songs but for its simple and handmade approach. This original copy of Daniel Johnston's Hi, How Are You: The Unfinished Album was made by Johnston himself, the very first version of this important tape from 1983.
Tape has been play tested and has some yellowing that is displayed in the photos.
