Nike's Just Do It. campaign was launched in 1988 and has been running ever since. This simple, monosyllabic creed has become the battle call for athletes, hobbyists, and sneakerheads alike. Japanese running shoes brand Asics took this issue with this slogan and fought back. Phil Knight, owner of Nike, was originally selling Asics predecessor, Onitsuka Tigers, and even visited their factories. Nike and Asics eventually sued each other.
