The Blasters formed in Downey, CA in 1979. They combined a bunch of different styles of music to create their own unique genre, "American Music" as they called it. They released a string of records in the early 1980s, mostly on Slash Records, before songwriter Dave Alvin, singer Phil Alvin's brother, quit the band in 1986. The Blasters have continued on since with the Alvin brothers reuniting sometimes. This original The Blasters shirt from 1985, deadstock with spots from prolonged storage, features the band's original logo as seen on their self-titled album.
