The 1967 Monterey Pop Festival lineup is legendary. You've got the first major Jimi Hendrix appearance in the US, you've got the Dead, you've got the Who, Ravi Shankar, a set from festival organizers the Mamas And The Poppas, Otis Redding, and more. It was a countercultural who's who for the late 60s. But one notably absent band were The Beatles, the most popular band in the world. At that point in their career, John, Paul, George, and Ringo were no longer playing live, but they were happy to contribute something to the fest to show their support. So they drew a little something for the festival's program. The band was working on their classic Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album and represented themselves as such in their doodle. This vintage tie dye shirt, with a few spots and marks from prolonged storage, is a 1990s reprint of the classic Beatles art originally featured in the Monterey Pop Festival program.
