Mos Def is a rapper from Brooklyn, NY. He rose to prominence in the 1990s working with likeminded rappers like De La Soul and Talib Kweli, with whom he formed Black Star. He released records on Rawkus and eventually signed to Geffen, where he earned Grammy nods and climbed the Billboard charts. In 2011, he legally changed his name to Yasiin Bey, the name he still produces music under to this day.
