On October 25, 1997, the Million Woman March took place in Philadelphia, PA. The gathering was organized by an activist and a business owner, not a large political organization or its affiliates. And yet, nearly a million people really did gather in downtown Philly, making it a record-setting protest. Its goals were simple: advocate for the self-determination of Black women. And with the large gathering and the speeches from such people as Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, Jada Pinkett Smith, Sista Souljah, Attallah and Ilyasah Shabazz, and more, it's safe to say that the event was a success. This original Million Woman March shirt from 1997 is in great condition with a few light marks and spots.
