Metallica are a thrash metal band who were formed in Los Angeles, CA in 1981. The band moved to the Bay Area in 1983 which is were they solidified their lineup with James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Cliff Burton, and Kirk Hammett. They would go on to record such records as Ride The Lightning and Master Of Puppets. Bassist Cliff Burton would sadly die on tour and was replaced by Jason Newsted. The band's next album was ...And Justice For All, which featured the song "The Shortest Straw" which was a reference to Burton's death, he drew the shortest straw to sleep in the bad bunk that night which resulted in his death when their tour bus crash.
