Vintage Lou Reed "New York" T-Shirt

In 1989, over two decades after the start of Velvet Underground, Lou Reed released his 15th solo album, the aptly titled New York. Reed was, of course, born and raised in New York, and in some capacity helped changed the city through his music and art. So it was fitting that he paid tribute with a conceptual album littered with references to the city, people inside it, and culture at large. The record, which was produced by Reed and Fred Maher, was a success, both critically and commercially: it was extremely well-reviewed, the single "Dirty Blvd." went to #1 on the Modern Rock chart, the album charted at #40 in the US and #14 in the UK, and it was eventually certified Gold in the US and in several other countries. Reed also notably reunited with Velvet Underground drummer Moe Tucker for two tracks on the album. The album's popularity helped get the old band back together, as Velvet Underground reunited the following year. This original Lou Reed shirt, nicely worn and faded in great condition, is from his 1989 tour in support of New York
