Vintage Jonathan Richman And The Modern Lovers "Painting" Sleeveless Shirt

Jonathan Richman founded his band The Modern Lovers in 1970. Richman was inspired by The Velvet Underground and after spending time with them in New York moved back to his hometown of Boston to start a band. While he was successful in finding a group of players, securing record deal, and playing shows, they were unable to release an album. And so the Modern Lovers broke up in 1974. Members went on to be in other successful bands, like The Cars and The Talking Heads. Richman reformed The Modern Lovers in 1976 with a whole new cast of characters and for a little over a decade, releasing seven albums before Richman began performing solo. This original Modern Lovers sleeveless shirt, in great condition with a cut collar, features a painting by Jonathan Richman himself. Fits like an XXXS but please refer to our measurements for exact sizing.
