Coach Carter is a movie, a sports drama based on a true story. The film, which was directed by Thomas Carter (no relation to Coach), was released in 2005. Samuel L. Jackson plays the titular Coach Ken Carter, a high school basketball coach from California. In the movie and in real life, Carter puts an emphasis on academics so much so that he literally locked out his undefeated team because of their poor grades. This decision made headlines, but Carter remained steadfast in his beliefs. Ultimately, the team came around and every member graduated and people praised the Coach. It was a box office success. This original Coach Carter shirt, deadstock with a few light marks and spots from prolonged storage, is a promotional item from when the movie was released on DVD in 2005.
