Black Sabbath are a hard rock band from Birmingham, England founded in 1968. There wasn't much of a hard rock scene before Sabbath. Sure, the Beatles had some heavy songs and Iron Butterfly had a hit song, but Sabbath came in and created an entire world seemingly on their own. It was dark and somewhat evil and especially heavy. They released their debut, self-titled album in 1970 and started the entire heavy metal scene with their opening riff. Since then, the band, which was famously founded by Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward, has had many ups and downs, changing out members and trying out new things, but they are still regarded as one of the best and most important rock bands ever.
