Eric B. & Rakim are a rap duo from New York founded in 1986. At that time, just as it always is, hip hop was changing. In the mid 80s it was going away from a more elaborate crew-based groups to a simpler and more personal approach. Eric B. was a DJ and Rakim was an MC, that's it. But they didn't need anything more. Their songs were perfect and they resonated with people. Their debut album, 1987's Paid In Full, performed well on the charts and has since been certified Platinum. Eric. B & Rakim are regularly cited not only as producing some of the best music the genre has ever seen, they're also regarded as one of the most important and influential artists in modern music. The pair split in 1993, after releasing three more critically acclaimed albums, but have been performing again since 2017. This original Eric B. & Rakim shirt, lightly worn and faded with a couple tiny pinholes on the print, is from their 1988 tour in support of their debut Paid In Full.
