The National Organization For Women was founded in 1966. As its name implies, the group was started with the intent to fight for women in several different arenas, be it economic justice, reproductive rights, or even constitutional equality. And even though Roe V. Wade afforded women the right to abortions in 1973, NOW kept fighting for abortion rights. Sadly, their fight has found new relevance as the Supreme Court has struck down Roe V. Wade, reminding us that regardless of current law the fight for safe and legal abortions is always ongoing.
