Don Cherry, Collin Walcott, and Naná Vasconcelos were all jazz musicians. Separately, they all played with many different musicians on their respective instruments: Cherry on the trumpet, Walcott on sitar, and Vasconcelos on percussion. But they generally played music in the spiritual jazz vein, meditative and atmospheric music of great power. Together, the three musicians played as Codona and released music on the ECM label, releasing three albums together. This original Codona press photo, in great condition, is from ECM.
