Andy Warhol was one of the most prolific artists of the 20th century. His pop art renditions of everything from Campbell's Soup to Marilyn Monroe were equal parts mainstream and subversive. Born in Pittsburgh, PA in 1928, Warhol began his art career by making commercial art in the 1950s. His career as a fine artist began in the 60s, and in little over a decade Warhol became one of the most popular and important artists in the world, known for his work with and for celebrities. One of the last big commissions before his death in 1987 was for the 1984 Winter Olympics held in Sarajevo. Warhol, along with other prominent artists like David Hockney and Cy Twombly, contributed art for the games, and his depiction of a speedster in typical Warholian style was used for the official poster from the Olympics. This original 1984 Winter Olympics lithograph poster, in great condition with some wear and marks, features beautiful Andy Warhol art from late in his career.
