Leather communities have regularly bestowed Mr. Drummer awards. The title came from Drummer magazine, a gay BDSM leather mag that was founded in 1979. In 1994, Kevin Drewery was awarded Southeast Mr. Drummer for a competition in Atlanta. This regional Drummer award was a big win and qualified Armstrong for the international Mr. Drummer contest regularly held in San Francisco. While Drummer and their namesake contest have changed over the years, those original competitions are still legendary and important. This vintage vest, nicely worn in with studs, is from the Southeast Mr. Drummer contest in 1994.
