Janet Jackson released Rhythm Nation 1814 in 1989. It was her fourth album. The record was sociopolitically aware, covering topics such as racism and poverty, but it was still a huge mainstream hit despite the record's difficult subject matter. It went six-times Platinum and was the best selling record of 1990. So of course Janet had to take the songs on the road. In 1990, she embarked on her Rhythm Nation World Tour which ran for nearly the entire year and featured over 100 shows. It was also unsurprisingly a massive success, earning over $28 million dollars and selling out stadiums across the world. There was elaborate choreography and stage set ups and fans and critics loved it at every show. This original Janet Jackson bomber jacket, lightly worn in excellent condition, is from her 1990 tour in support of Rhythm Nation 1814
