Black Entertainment Television, or BET, is a television station. The network was founded by Robert Johnson in 1980 after he left a job as lobbyist for the cable industry. BET's goal was simple: create a station whose programs were made for a Black audience. Now decades later, it's obvious that it was a success. The channel is the host sitcoms, news, and music, and includes several music-specific spin offs like BET Gospel, BET Soul, and BET Jams. They're also home to their own awards since 2001: the BET Awards. This original BET wool varsity jacket, in excellent condition with light signs of wear, is from the channel's 10th anniversary and was originally given to someone named Steve.
