William S. Burroughs was an American writer. Alongside Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg, he was a leading figure of the Beat Generation, as he casually discussed topics like drug use and sex, topics considered taboo up until that point. His first novel, Junkie, was published under a pen name in 1953 after being urged to write by Ginsberg. Burroughs kept writing, penning a myriad of novels and short story collections, notably including his 1959 novel Naked Lunch. His work was important beyond literary circles, it informed American counterculture, and even mainstream culture, for years to come. This vintage Olympia Books William S.
