Dr. Seuss wrote The Cat In The Hat in 1957. Seuss's goal was to create a book for children that was easy to read and better than the material available at the time, stories based around Dick And Jane. Of course the book worked. Seuss's book would go on to be an iconic and important piece of children's literature, one that is still read to this day.
