Larry Johnson was selected first overall in the 1991 NBA draft by the Charlotte Hornets. He won Rookie Of The Year that season. The Hornets were a new team, being founded only in 1988, but thanks to Johnson and his All-Star teammates like Alonzo Mourning, Muggsy Bogues, and Dell Curry, the Hornets went from new guys to playoff contenders in a few short years. Johnson left the Hornets in 1996 for the New York Knicks and finished out his career there.
