Wide Awake were a straight edge hardcore band from Connecticut founded in 1986. They released a demo, a 7" entitled C.T. Hardcore on Schism Records, and were featured on the X Marks the Spot compilation released on Smorgasbord Records.Wide Awake played a style of hardcore heavily influenced by Youth Of Today and Bold, straight edge hardcore pulling from early USHC topped off with a positive message. They were regulars at The Anthrax. In 1989, the band played the Aaron Straw Benefit show there alongside Sick Of It All, Supertouch, Underdog, and Up Front. In 1991, after the band broke up, Mondo Gillipie Records released a recording of Wide Awake's set from that show as a 7" entitled The End. This original Wide Awake shirt, lightly worn in great condition, features an amazing jumping pic live at the Anthrax to promote their EP The End.
