The Skatalites are, as their name implies, a ska band from Kingston, Jamaica. But they're more than just that. They are not only the very first ska band ever, they are also instrumental in the formation of rocksteady and reggae, as they played with Bob Marley and the Wailers on their first single. Formed in 1964 by a group of ten musicians, including Tommy McCook and Rolando Alphonso, the Skatalites broke up only a year later, forming two ska supergroups before ultimately reuniting in 1983. The Skatalites are still active to this day, releasing records and touring. This vintage two-sided single stitch Skatalites shirt, in great condition, tells the truth about how influential and important the Kingstonians are. 50% Cotton 50% Polyester.
