New Order, the post-Joy Division band, released Substance in 1987 on Factory. While the record became one of the danceable post punk band's most popular efforts, it wasn't near material, it was merely a compilation of singles. The record has sold over a million copies since its release and is still regarded as some of their best work. It featured a re-recording of the Joy Division song "Ceremony" and songs like "True Faith" and "Blue Monday." New Order was founded in 1980 by Bernard Sumner, Gillian Gilbert, Peter Hook, and Stephen Morris after the tragic suicide of Joy Division's singer, Ian Curtis. The Manchester group found fast success and became one of the decade's most popular acts, going between minimalism and maximalism with expert taste and skill. They have continued playing into the present day. This original natural colored New Order poster, with a few small marks and pinholes, is from the 1987 Factory Records release of Substance.
