Fela Kuti was a Nigerian musician. He was known for pioneering the genre Afrobeat and for his incredible talents on several instruments. Fela was able to tour the world bringing his music to many different people and places. He was also very politically active, being critical of the Nigerian government and their corruption. He was not just a musician who played enjoyable music, he spoke for the people and represented them and spread this culture throughout the world. It resonated far beyond his home country, too. In the late 70s he changed his band name to the Egypt 80 Orchestra, the band he would continue to play with for many years. Sadly, he died in 1997, but his son Seun took over as leader for the Egpyt 80 Orchestra who continue to play to this day. This original Fela Kuti shirt, with a few light marks from prolonged storage, is from 1986.
