English artist David Hockney was born in 1937. He studied at the Royal College Of Art in London and began showing his art in the early 60s and moved to Los Angeles, CA shortly after. The California landscape and lifestyle influenced Hockney's work, as his paintings of swimming pools became some of his most popular works. His1972 painting Portrait Of An Artist (Pool With Two Figures) sold for $90 Million, making it the most expensive sale for a living artist to date (that record has since been broken by Jeff Koons). He works with many different media, including photo collage, printmaking, and, most recently, digital paintings made on his iPad. Hockney still creates new works to this day. This original David Hockney exhibition shirt, in excellent condition with little to no signs of wear, is from his 1988-1989 retrospective at the Tate in London.
