The University Of Alabama was founded in 1820. The school was founded shortly after the state was admitted as a state to the Union, and the university was given land through Congress. Now, over two centuries later, U of A has grown into a massive institution of higher learning, being home to nearly 40,000 students. And while their academics are certainly top notch, they also have a stellar athletics program.
