Vintage SSD "X-Claim!" T-Shirt

Minor Threat released the song "Straight Edge" in 1981. Nowhere in the song was there a call for violence or nihilism, it was pretty clearly a song about a personal philosophy. The same year the song was released, Society System Decontrol, or SS Decontrol or SSD, formed in Boston, MA and flipped that idea on its head. The band, which originally featured Spring on vocals, Al Barille on guitar, Jaime Sciarappa on bass, and Chris Foley on drums, released their debut The Kids Will Have Their Say as a split release between their won X-Claim Records and Minor Threat's Dischord Records in 1982. And with those 18 songs, the entire foundation of straight edge changed. People now got beer slapped out of their hands and smoking was now repulsive and offensive — other's personal choices now impacted our own and were now subject to our ridicule. Yes the band got a little crazy later on, but their music is still great, especially their second 12" Get It Away, the one with the Pushead art. This vintage SSD fan made shirt from the 90s, in great condition with a few light spots, pays homage to one of the best USHC bands ever.
