Spam, the canned pork-ham food brand from Minnesota, was founded in 1937 by Hormel Foods. The food became widely distributed in WWII as it was an ideal food for the military — it provided meat that didn't have to be fresh. Due to the ubiquity of the American military, Spam spread far beyond Minnesota and became a bit of a global phenomenon. Spam is still made, and eaten, to this day, and, of course, it's still in a can and still made by Hormel. This vintage Spam shirt from 1992, in excellent condition nicely worn and faded, features a shot of the famous can.
