In 1972, pandas Ling-Ling and Hsing-Hsing arrived at the Smithsonian National Zoo. They were presented to First Lady Pat Nixon and were a symbolic gesture of diplomacy between China and the United States. The panda pair were celebrities. While it brought millions of visitors to the National Zoo, it also allowed for a study of pandas as an attempt repopulation and conservation of the species. Sadly none of Ling-Ling and Hsing-Hsing cubs survived. The DC Zoo now has two new pandas, Mei Xiang and Tian Tian. They have had three cubs since their arrival in 2000. This shirt, light worn with a few marks, is from 1981, from the original panda era. 50% Cotton 50% Polyester.
