Cheap Trick released their live album Cheap Trick at Budokan in 1979, which would go on to be ranked by Rolling Stone as the 426 Greatest Album of All Time. By that point, Cheap Trick had released several studio albums. In the beginning, their records weren't doing that well. Their albums and singles were failing to chart. They weren't bad songs or anything, they just couldn't find their audience. Somehow, though, the band had a large following in Japan and they went off to Budokan in April of 1978 to play some gigs. They recorded the sets and were going to release that record as a Japan exclusive, but demand eventually brought the record to the States in February 1979, and Cheap Trick were finally regarded as the rock stars they were. This shirt is from a gig in Erie, PA on September 21, 1979, the year the band broke out. Seeing Cheap Trick at this gig meant that you were seeing the same band whose live set from a year prior was ranked by one of those most important rock mags as one of the best records ever, so you know the show was something special. This shirt, in great condition, was made for crew only during an extremely important era for the band so it's very rare and hard to come by, but now it can be yours.
