Mortiis, the genre-bending metal musician/band from Norway, entered their third era in the mid 2000s. It was their third era as it was the third stylistic shift the band had undergone, this time embracing more elements of industrial rock, like guitars and programmed drums. Their albums — like The Grudge, the remix of Some Kind Of Heroin, and Perfectly Defect — won over new fans and the support of larger cultural institutions, like Norwegian libraries, but it was still the same thought-provoking Mortiis.
